We can appreciate the fact that the media focuses on bad news because fear,
uncertainty and conflict sells a whole lot more newspapers than positive news.
The home building industry in general and the real estate market in particular are having troubles, but this has been anticipated for years. Obviously, this decline is having an impact on the log home sector of the housing market, but it is not as severe as what is happening in the conventional new home market. When these market corrections occur, buyers will
often postpone plans forcing manufacturers and builders to focus more on improving customer service and reducing prices.
In just the past few decades, we have witnessed escalating energy prices, hyperinflation and deflation, stock market euphoria and free-fall crashes, real estate booms and busts, and economic ups and downs have been part of every free market since we abandoned the barter system.
Somehow we manage to get through these cycles and business gets back to normal. Do you remember the dot-com meltdown when the market was shedding billions of dollars in value, tech companies were going belly-up, banks were overextended and we watched the evening news like petrified like deer in the headlights? What your response have been if I told you back then that you’d be smart to build a custom log home, because it would probably double in value over then next few years?
This is why I say that there is not better time for you to build a log home than now because these market conditions are what you have been waiting for. With the housing market soft, you will get more attention from builders and manufacturers are focused on making you want to buy from them them. History has proven over and over again that your dream home will always cost you more to build later than it will today.
